Last week, Nokia BetaLabs announced a new service called Nokia Email. This is push email just like those of the Blackberry or Apple’s MobileMe so expect this to be a premium service.
I’m trying it now and if you’re interested, Nokia is allowing sign-ups during the beta period for free. It’s only limited to ESeries and NSeries handset with S60 3rd Edition OS.
This means you can get your GMail, Yahoo and other emails pushed into your phone almost immediately (there were reports by others that there’s a slight delay).
This, on top of Nokia Ovi and the Nokia Music Store, makes you realize that Nokia is slowly becoming an internet company rather than just a handset manufacturer.
Take note though that you will be charged separately by your wireless provider (for 3G connections). And since this is push, you’re virtually connected to the net 24/7 which could be costly for time-based charging. this is one of those times when KB charging is cheaper and makes more sense.
Will update this post once I’ve tried the Nokia Email later today. Try it here.
Nokia is best and they can introduce some unique tech and service for there user.
Some good points there. That aside, my next phone will definately be a Nokia.
Has anyone else feel like the global downturn has hurt the board industry?
Besides, there’s also MobileMe which is eating away a piece of the pie in the US and UK.
If my memory serve me right, Nokia stopped distributing the BlackBerry Connect application on its smartphones; now everything makes sense! They have evil plan to give BlackBerry a run for their money after all!
