11.6″ Dell Inspiron M102z goes AMD Fusion for cheap

Listen to article

Dell is now out with its own version of the AMD Fusion notebook with the 11.6-inch Inspiron M102z that comes pre-loaded with Ubuntu 10 (instead of the usual FreeDOS others offer).

The Inspiron M102z competes with the likes of the Samsung Series 3 and the Sony Vaio Y in the E-450 space.

Dell Inspiron M102z specs:
11.6″ display @ 1366×768 pixels
AMD E-450 1.65GHz dual-core
AMD Radeon HD 6320
4GB DDR3 RAM
500GB SATA HDD
1.3MP webcam
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 3.0
LAN port
3 x USB 2.0 ports
HDMI port
7-in-1 card reader
6-cell battery
Ubuntu 10.04

Suggested retail price is Php21,900 which is relatively affordable for an E450-type laptop. The use of Ubuntu as the default OS instead of Windows 7 is the likely culprit for this price-point.

This has 3 USB Ports, 1 of them with power share. Sana man lang ginawang USB 3.0 yung isang port para mag differ sa ibang manufacturer, they have almost all the same specs

Dell stinks, Abe. I’d rather pay the premium for a thinkpad–much better performance.

Love Ubuntu Linux, but why 10.04… that is two generations behind now.

My thoughts exactly. I wonder what’s Dell thinking?

Because Ubuntu 10.04 is LTS – Long-term support (LTS) releases are supported for three years on the desktop. Perfect for organisations that need more stability for larger deployments.

Wow, mura na nga to for an e-350. Plus it comes with Ubuntu pre-installed so you’re sure walang driver problems with the OS :))
