Globe Telecom has really had enough of companies, particularly the Caritas Health Shield Inc., which send unsolicited text advertisements to their subscribers that they’ve asked the National Telecommunications Commission to aid them in putting an end to this issue.
According to the Ayala-owned telco, they’ve received reports that their subscribers receive around five to 10 spam SMS on a daily basis which, unsurprisingly, caused a massive uproar from their patrons.
For their part, Globe Telecoms has already deactivated a total of 384 cellphone numbers, as of April 2014, which they’ve identified as numbers used by text spammers. But because companies can easily switch to a new SIM card, the telco is having a hard time to lessen the number of SMS spams being sent to their subscribers.
Froilan Castelo, Globe Telecoms’ General Legal Counsel and SVP, Corporate and Legal Services Group, said that the company will “continue to amplify our campaign until we have substantially reduced, if not eliminated, this problem”, but they’re going to need all the help they can get, particularly from NTC, to solve this problem.
“The clamor of customers to combat spam messages has become a matter of public interest so the NTC should use all its disciplinary powers against spammers like Caritas,”

Dapat kasi, gawin nang mandatory ang number registration. Para hindi mahirapan ang telephone companies matukoy kung sino ang mga spammers, as well as scammers. And make it simple, kunyari, gawing isa o dalawang valid IDs lang ang requirement. Sabihin na nating pano yung mga lumang numbers na? Bigyan ng window ang mga Pinoy para makapag-register, say, a year para makapag-paregister. Siguro, nakakuha na sya ng valid ID nun. Then, cut off all services sa mga hindi nakapag-paregister. And make it free of charge.

just register all sim cards para may accountability. Like globe said, they can shift to another sim card if its blocked. kung nakaregister, we can have the person or company accountable for it.

Ulol nyo Globe. Eh kayo mismo nagbibigay ng number ng mga customer nyo mismo. The after pagkakuha ko ng unit/sim ko sainyo mag nagtext na agad saken! Wtf? Seriously?
Globe should seriously consider checking their own employees first. there are people who sends customer data to agencies and other advertisers for a fair amount of money. Mahirap kasi pag ang tao nakakakuha nang atleast 10k per month for sending people a couple of excel documents with customer info and numbers. got 3 plans from globe, after activation, may 3 message agad na narecieve from china bank etc…
we do have this kind of service to automated text notification, yes mahirap talaga ito pahintuin unless i raraid mo at dedemandahin ung company na nag sesend..
malaki ang kita sa pagbenta ng personal info sa mga advertisers and walang ibang salarin kung hindi yung company or tao nila sa loob..

after my wife and i opened a joint savings account at BPI Central Iloilo branch (Ayala owned bank), we both began receiving text and calls from Ayala Land affiliated sales representative asking for appointments or offering property deals. Globe BPI Ayala land are all Ayala owned companies, their people are the ones passing off personal info to their affiliates.
kaya dapat one is to one lang per network provider eh.. para wala ng palitan ng number para sa landline lang na one household one phone number. And this can serve as a unified data of our personal info.

Same here everyday ako nakaka received mga condo at health care na text nakakaurat kaya. Minsan twice a day pa kung magsend.
At sana naman yon monthly na lang yon capping nyo let say 150gb per month parang sa canada monthly ang capping ng internet nila
Even my newly acquired number from Globe last month is being spammed everyday and I was surprised to know that it was pre-owned by a doctor who gave this number to shops and real state agents where she availed promos and offerings, it frets me sometimes.
I also have the same experience. The previous owner of my postpaid sim is a doctor so i frequently receive text and calls from med reps offering their promo. I respectively asked if they can possible delete my number from their database but still texts and calls are being received.
Lol. Sa postpaid ko lang may nag spam EVERYDAY. Sa prepaid ko na more than 7 years na napaka dalang magkaroon.

Mga walang hiya kayo Globe, kung kani kanino nyo pinamimigay yung number ng sim ko, eh postpaid yun para sa broadband. Ano yung mga nagtetext about sa advertisement ng produkto o serbisyo nila. Hula hula.

i believe networks and other companies are selling the users personal info. i remember the 1st day i had my globe postpaid, i received an ad for loans hours after activating my new sim. i havent even time yet distributing the new number because of the excitement over my new phone.
As what Simon said, Telcos are recycling numbers. So there is a big possibility that the number you got was a recycled one.
Putang kabayo! Kunwari pa daw pinatitigil ng Globe ang mga spammers na ‘to. Eh, kasama lang yata ang Globe dyan, ah. Sila nga kung mag-spam tiba-tiba din. Saksak nyo yang mga spam sa pwetan nyo!
1. number recycling. pag nag expire ang number, eventually i rereactivate nila yan to a new postpaid or prepaid sim. kung naaalala pa ninyo ung super old number nyo na nag expire na, try calling or texting. baka sabihin nyo multo nagrereply but no, na recycle na iyon.
2. free text sites. akala po natin no catch it. i for one know a person na nagpagawa sa akin ng free sms website for the sole purpose of number harvesting. ginagamit raw sa kanyang marketing consultancy firm. so libre nga kayong nakaka text pero naibenta na ng man-in-the-middle ung numbers nyo sa kanilang specific clients. mabenta nga ito minsan sa mga elections or website launching.
3. random texting. gumagamit ng apps like SMSCaster, or any apps na pwedeng mag generate ng random number saka mass-send. bili lang ung spammer ng new sim, unlitext then the spam rolls.
so yan po. kahit sabihin nating “kakaopen” lg ng sim it may happen na recycled number na iyan at possibly nahulog na sa honeypot freetext sites. or sa random texting.
