HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro Hands-On

Listen to article

We’ve been using the HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro for two days.

Our initial impression is that the Watch Fit 5 Pro retains the familiar Fit-series experience, but now comes with a more premium design and a noticeably brighter display.

On paper, it brings several upgrades over the previous generation, including a 1.92-inch LTPO AMOLED screen, 3,000 nits peak brightness, sapphire glass, and a titanium alloy bezel.

Design and Build Quality

The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro uses a 7-series aviation-grade aluminum body, 2.5D sapphire glass, and a titanium alloy watch bezel. This is the first time the Fit series has used sapphire glass, and that immediately gives it a more premium feel than the usual smartwatch glass found on mainstream wearables.

HUAWEI also says the titanium bezel is there to help protect the screen edges during outdoor activities.

Our review unit came in orange, which stands out immediately. The strap can be swapped, and we instantly used an older Fit 3 strap, though the orange accents around the display bezel are fixed and not exactly to our preference.

While the bold color draws attention and follows current trends, we generally prefer neutral tones like black or white for smartwatches. They pair more easily with different outfits and activities, from gym sessions to office wear.

On the wrist, the watch feels light and comfortable to wear.

We’ve been wearing it for most of the day over the past two days, and the only time it was removed was while taking a shower. That matters more than the spec sheet because a smartwatch can only be useful if it fits naturally into our daily life.

Display

The display is one of the biggest upgrades here. The Watch Fit 5 Pro has a 1.92-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with even bezels and a screen-to-body ratio that HUAWEI says reaches 83 percent, up from 79 percent on the Fit 4 Pro.

More importantly, the screen is rated at up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, so visibility outdoors should be much better than on a typical smartwatch display.

The LTPO panel can also drop from 60Hz to 1Hz, which should help reduce battery drain, especially when Always-On Display is enabled. In use, the thin bezels make the watch look more modern and more premium than its actual category suggests.

Fitness Features

For our first impressions, what we can say is that the Watch Fit 5 Pro carries over HUAWEI’s usual broad workout support, with more advanced outdoor features reserved for the Pro model.

This iteration adds new sports tools for trail running, cycling, golf, and freediving. Those are the kinds of features we’ll need more time with before properly judging them.

Health Tracking

The Watch Fit 5 Pro supports the usual basics like heart rate monitoring, ECG, sleep tracking, and other health features tied to HUAWEI’s TruSense system. One feature we’re especially interested in is the obstructive sleep apnea monitoring, since that is something we want to examine more closely in testing.

The new blood glucose risk assessment is another Pro-only feature, but it’s important to be clear about what it does.

HUAWEI says it does not measure blood glucose levels directly; instead, it collects physiological data over 3 to 14 days and estimates the risk of hyperglycemia.

Battery Life

Battery life is still one of HUAWEI’s strongest advantages. The company claims the Watch Fit 5 Pro can last up to 10 days, depending on usage. Based on our first two days of testing and what we’ve come to expect from HUAWEI smartwatches, it should hold up well in real-world use.

We drained about 22 percent over two days, even after setting up the watch, enabling features, and granting the necessary permissions.

That is still a very good result, especially for users accustomed to charging a smartwatch every night. It also makes the Fit 5 Pro a better travel companion than many competing smartwatches, since there’s less need to worry about bringing a charger for short trips.

Final Thoughts

The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro looks like a meaningful upgrade for the series, mainly because of its better materials, brighter display, and stronger health-focused features. The battery life also appears to remain one of its biggest selling points, based on both HUAWEI’s claims and our early usage.

If HUAWEI keeps the price close to the Fit 4 series, this should be an easy recommendation for people who want a stylish smartwatch with good battery life, strong health tracking, and premium hardware without stepping into flagship smartwatch pricing.

For now, it looks like a solid value pick for users who want more than basic fitness tracking.
