Quick Share–AirDrop compatibility is coming on Android phones soon

Listen to article

Google is finally opening up its AirDrop-compatible Quick Share feature to more Android devices. After debuting on the Pixel 10 series last year, the feature is now confirmed to roll out beyond Pixels. Eric Kay, Google’s VP of Engineering, announced that Quick Share will receive AirDrop support and become available on more Android smartphones later this year.

The move isn’t too surprising. Google recently turned Quick Share from a system app into a standalone APK on the Play Store, a clear sign it’s no longer tied to Pixel-only hardware. The feature has already proven to work, letting Pixel 10 users share files seamlessly with iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks.

Google says it’s now working with partners to bring this to more devices. Interestingly, OPPO and Xiaomi already provide similar cross-platform sharing functionalities through their ColorOS and HyperOS systems.
