Canon has announced its SLR-style mirrorless camera named the EOS M5. It’s a feature-packed shooter with an electronic viewfinder, ISO range of 100-25,600, and a 24.2-megapixel sensor.
Canon EOS M5 specs:
24.2MP APS-C sensor
Digic 7 image processor
49 cross-type AF points
100-25,600 ISO
Electronic viewfinder
7fps w/ continuous AF
9fps w/o continuous AF
Full HD video at 60fps
3.2-inch LCD display
1.6-million dot touchscreen
5-axis image stabilization
In addition to those specs, the EOS M5 also has Canon’s dual pixel autofocus system that makes it able to focus and capture light at the same time. The built-in display also tilts out 85 degrees and down 180 so it somehow still has viewing limitations.
Connectivity-wise, it’s got Bluetooth Low Energy onboard to ensure constant connection between the camera and smartphone.
Canon is also bundling it with a 499-dollar 18-150mm f3.4-6.3 lens with its own image stabilization. The EOS 5M will sell for $1,479 (approx. Php70K) and will be available this coming December.

Could have gotten this if it’s reasonably priced here in the Philippines. Instead, I got the A6300. Too bad Canon PH.
The M5’s pricing in the Philippines doesn’t make any sense. In the US the price for body-only is @ USD 979 = PHP 48,632.80. In Japan it is priced @ JPY 105,740 = PHP 44,704.52. In Hong Kong it’s @ HKD 7,880 = PHP 50,428.02. The price of the 80D from all these stores are higher than that of the M5. How come it is the opposite here in the Philippines? The local price of the 80D at the moment is around PHP 44,500 to 48,500. Canon Philippines, what gives?
60K for body only and a “free” selphy printer worth around 8K. so sell the printer and you get about 52K for the body.
Hi, I don’t think this thing is Weather Sealed. As there are no current EOS M Lens that’s weather sealed as well.
good for vlogging daw sa video. pero pag mounted na panget yung screen nasa ibaba e.
978$ for the body only.
Mahal! I’d rather get an 80D or a 2nd hand 5D2 at that price.
Looks like they will be competing with Fuji and Sony in the high-end mirrorless market.
It feels odd reading this particular line; ” It feature-packed shooter…”
