Here are the advantages and disadvantages of both devices.

Huawei Mate 20

  • Higher screen-to-body ratio (smaller notch)
  • Triple rear cameras
  • Higher front camera resolution
  • Expandable storage
  • Dual SIM
  • Larger battery
  • Reverse wireless charging
  • Dual GPS
  • Kirin 980 (7nm structure)

Google Pixel 3

  • Higher pixel density
  • Dual front cameras
  • IP68 water- and dust-resistance
  • Wireless charging

Now let’s talk about their display. It’s clear that both the Mate 20 and the Pixel 3 have really promising display technology, and this will only boil down on how you want your viewing experience to be. If you prefer a non-intrusive display, you can go for the Mate 20 as it has a higher screen-to-body ratio, allowing you to have a more immersive viewing experience. The Pixel 3’s not so bad either despite its large forehead.

When it comes to processors, both devices are sporting flagship processors so it’s pretty much evident that these two are beasts when it comes to performance. However, the Mate 20 might get the upper hand in this section as it is being powered by the latest Kirin 980 chipset that uses a 7nm FinFet manufacturing process which offers more power efficiency. The Snapdragon 845 is still a very powerful processor, so we will have to see how it pans out. We’ve yet to find out the full capability of the Mate 20, so be sure watch out for our review.

As for cameras, we’ve yet to find out their quality, but on paper, the Mate 20 gets the upper hand as it sports a triple rear camera setup which gives you more flexibility to switch lenses (Ultra Wide-Angle Lens, Wide-Angle Lens, and 2X Telephoto Lens) unlike Google’s lone rear camera setup. For selfies, the former also gets the crown for having a higher camera resolution. But then again, we’ve yet to say our final judgment when we see finally test these two devices — camera specs aren’t indicative of photo quality.

Battery-wise, the Mate 20 and the Pixel 3 have a huge discrepancy. The former carries a large 4,000mAh battery with SuperCharge (40W) which Huawei claims to give the device 1% power in just 30 seconds of charging. On the other hand, the Pixel 3 has 2,915mAh battery w/ fast charging. On paper, it’s obvious that the former wins in this section.

The Huawei Mate 20 is priced at EUR899 (~Php49,900) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and EUR850 (~Php53,000) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage while the Google Pixel 3 is priced at USD 799 (~PHP 43,243).

All in all, both of these devices have promising specs, each with their own forte. So, if we were to ask you, which of these two do you prefer? Share it with us in the comments section below!
