Biggest Tech Events to Look Forward to in 2018

Every year we are given the opportunity to stand in awe as companies present the latest and greatest tech they have to offer. The first wave was actually just unveiled during CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2018 last month. While some of these events are revealed via surprise announcements, like Samsung’s Galaxy S9 launch, we do have a few that have a yearly schedule. So if you’re the kind of person that loves tech and wants to keep up with the tides, then here are the biggest tech events to look forward to in 2018.

Galaxy Unpacked 2018

Date: February 25
What’s it about and what to expect:
As the name implies, the event is all about the grand unveiling of Samsung’s newest flagship duo for 2018 — The Galaxy S9 and S9+. Since the speculation of a CES 2018 launch, which ultimately did not happen, Samsung has been busy prepping for their first big reveal of the year.

They are so busy in fact, that we’ve already seen a few leaks and information about the two devices. In the past few weeks, consumers got a peek at the S9 and S9+’ looks, camera features, and possible pricing. Thankfully, after twelve days we’ll finally get to meet them.

The event is a mixed bag of gadgets and appliances. It’s basically the event for the masses where anything and everything under the sun are introduced.

Gaming Events

What’s it about and what to expect:
The single biggest gaming event of the year, E3 is where gaming companies reveal their latest gifts to the gaming world. This could range from sequels of previous titles to new games, or even the birth of a new franchise. There are also times when we see new consoles get revealed, as well as some new innovative accessories. It is certainly the event to watch out for when you are part of the gaming community.

ESGS is the biggest Southeast Asian gaming event of the year, which also happens to be based here in the Philippines. Like with E3, it’s a gathering of game developers and tech brands to showcase their latest titles and gadgets.

It’s also a venue for local and international tournaments and sometimes even job opportunities. It’s the most accessible gaming event for our local gamers.

Game Awards

The Golden Globes, Emmys, Oscars, Tonys, and Grammys of the gaming world. The Game Awards is an event that honors the best and brightest gaming titles of the year. Not only that, it’s an avenue for gaming companies to reveal new or additional information about their upcoming games or even the new updates and expansions to their current ones.
