LD Systems recently released the Maui 5 in the Philippines and we took it out for a spin. The Maui 5 is a portable column speaker PA system which come with a four-channel mixer and Bluetooth connectivity.
If you’re not familiar with these types of speakers, the Maui 5 is ideal for PA-type scenarios where you need a mix of music playback, instrument input for the likes of a guitar or keyboard and microphone.
The Maui 5 comes with a 4-piece system — the basement where the subwoofer is housed, a single mids that plugs on top of the basement, and two spacers that allows you to adjust the height of the speaker to your liking.
The Maui 5 is a powerful speaker system with a 200watt (rsm) power output and 800watt peak output. We tested it out in our studio and was thoroughly impressed with the entire setup. We also had the Bose L1 Compact as a comparison.
