Instagram’s new social platform Threads was just launched a few days ago and has gained a large number of users in just a short span of time.
Moreover, users had begun to notice that they can only currently disable or deactivate their Threads account, but in order to fully delete their Threads account, they would have to delete their Instagram account as well.

This issue has caught the attention of the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri, who has now issued a response on his Threads account.
He clarified that users can still deactivate their Threads account which should hide their Threads profile and content. He also states that users can also set their profile to private and delete individual Threads posts.

More notably, he stated that since Threads is being powered by Instagram, both profiles on each platform are still counted as one account, but he further stated that they are currently looking for a solution to deleting one’s Threads account independently.
