Lenovo commits to making 80% of its devices consumer-repairable by 2025

During the Canalys EMEA Forum 2023, Luca Rossi,  Lenovo’s Senior Vice President and President of its Intelligent Devices Group said that the company is committed to a net zero emission policy by 2050, according to The Register.

The Lenovo executive emphasized that over 80% of their devices will be able to be repaired by the customer with parts such as batteries, SSDs, and more to be repaired simply by the customer and save waste.

“On repairability, we have a plan that by 2025 more than 80 percent of the repair parts will be repaired again so that they they enter into the circular economy to reduce the impact to the environment.” — Luca Rossi,  Lenovo Senior Vice President and President of its Intelligent Devices Group

This has been made apparent especially with the EU tightening rules on device manufacturers such as wanting to have smartphones feature replaceable batteries by 2025.

Lenovo has also had a solid track record when it comes to reliability and fixability, most especially with its Thinkpad series and its Legion gaming series also having some solid reputations.
