Google has just released a whole suite of new updates for Android. From Messages updates, Google TV updates, Photos, GBoard, Nearby share, and even a pay for parking feature. Here are the newest features on Android:

Google Photos – Portrait Blur

Google’s Portrait Blur feature can now be used on more than just people now. You can use Portrait Blur on photos such as pets, foods, and plants. The new update even allows you to use Portait Blur on a photo you’ve already taken. Pixel users and Google One members can already begin using it in Google Photos. However, the feature is coming soon to the Photos app on Android.

Google has now updated Android to show reactions from iPhones as emojis on text messages. Just like messaging on most android devices. Moreover, you’ll now be able to send videos in the same resolution when sent via a Google Photos link. Photos will also be sent this way too soon.

Most importantly, it is now able to sort your messages into either Personal or Business tabs with an organized inbox. Other features introduced include automatically deleting OTP passwords after 24 hours and birthday reminders integrated to stay on top of all your loved one’s birthdays.

Gboard

The new Grammar correction feature on Gboard helps you type the way you want to be heard. It works to detect grammatical errors and offer suggestions as you type. Furthermore, Emoji kitchen now has more than 2,000 new emoji mashups available as stickers via Gboard. And for Pixel users, Gboard will convert your words into colorful stickers built with your exact text when typing in messaging apps in English (U.S.).

Live Transcribe Offline

Live transcribe now works wherever you go even without Wi-Fi or data. It provides real-time speech-to-text captions which are now available in offline mode. This enables everyday in-person conversations between people who are deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing. It comes preinstalled in Pixel and Samsung devices or is available to download as well.

Google TV Highlights

Google TV has just added a new Highlights section for your favorite shows. It offers a personalized feed that includes news articles and reviews based on movies and shows you’re interested in. Then with just one tap, it will take you to the movie or TV show so you may watch it, rate it, or add it to your watch list.

Android Update 1

Pay for Parking

With the help of Google Assistant, you are now able to pay for parking with just your voice. Just say “Hey Google, pay for parking” once you’ve parked and follow Google Assistant’s prompts. You can also tell google to check your parking status or extend parking time. However, this feature is not available just yet in the Philippines.

Screen time widget

A new screen time widget introduced will be able to help you find balance when using your phone throughout the day. A feature offered within the widget called Digital Wellbeing helps users get a glimpse of the three most used apps on your phone. The widget allows you to set daily timers for your apps. It also has a focus mode to pause certain apps at set times. Lastly, it features a bedtime mode which silences your device and changes the screen to black and white during bedtime.

Nearby Share is getting an update making it easier to share photos, videos, and files with multiple nearby devices rather than just one device at a time. The update is now being made available on all Android 6+ devices.
