Slack announces price increase and big changes for its Free Plan

The known messaging and collaboration tool Slack announced in their blog a price increase for their Pro plan and big changes to their Free Plan.

Slack

Starting this September, the Pro plan of Slack will have a price increase from USD 8.00 to USD 8.75 per user per month and an annual Pro subscription from USD 6.67 to USD7.25 per user per month.

Slack clarified this will only affect people using the Pro plan worldwide and not the Business Plus and custom enterprise plans. Slack also gave a tip to its customers by advising them to lock their existing annual rate for another year by renewing their subscription before September 1st for those subscribed to the annual rate. While those on their Monthly Pro plan are advised to switch to the annual Pro plan so they can still use the USD6.67 per user per month rate for a year before September 1st.

For those who are using the Free Plan of Slack, starting September 1st instead of showing the last 10,000 messages and up to 5GB of uploaded content, it’ll show now the last 90 days of messages and uploads, which means no limit on the number of messages and amount of uploaded file.

Also, Free plan users will now have access to the Clips feature that enables users to send video, audio, and screen-share messages in channels and DMs. The Free teams can also set now a retention period for their messages and files starting September 1st.
