For vlogging and selfie lovers, smartphones have become the go-to device to capture memories and create content.

With that, not only do people want a phone with great cameras for both photos and videos, but they would also prefer a device that looks good and functions great as a phone too.

Well, those are the targets that HUAWEI aims to hit with its all-new HUAWEI nova 11 Pro.

Featuring a 60MP Ultra Portrait Dual camera, vlog-focused features, and a trendy design, the HUAWEI nova 11 Pro looks to be an interesting pick for vloggers and selfie enthusiasts alike.

We were lucky enough to have the HUAWEI nova 11 Pro in-studio early so join us as we share a quick hands-on and first impression of HUAWEI’s newest nova device!

HUAWEI nova 11 Pro Hands On, First Impressions

Let’s start off with the display. The HUAWEI nova 11 Pro comes with a 6.78-inch FHD+ curved OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate.

As expected from an OLED panel, the screen is vibrant and bright. It also has great contrast and really good viewing angles.

The curved edges on the screen also make the nova 11 Pro feel premium in the hand.  However, some people might prefer a flat screen (myself included) so it’s worth noting that the nova 11 Pro’s curved sides are pretty pronounced. They do make back gestures much easier to do but your mileage may vary.

The nova 11 Pro’s display features HUAWEI’s trademark Kunlun Glass which has received a five-star glass drop resistance certification at SGS from Switzerland.

This gives the nova 11 Pro impressive drop resistance but we’ll get back to you on how this translates in real-world usage.

Design-wise, the HUAWEI nova 11 Pro sports a fashion-forward aesthetic centered around what HUAWEI calls the nova Monogram Vegan Leather design.

It’s an embossed ‘nova” pattern on the phone’s back panel that definitely looks trendy and stylish.

The monogram embossed finish also offers a soft and textured finish at the back that adds a good grip on the phone and eliminates fingerprints. We also really like the green shade that HUAWEI chose for the finish on the nova 11 Pro.

Powering the HUAWEI nova 11 Pro is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage.

We’ll get back to you on how the phone performs but it’s clear that the nova 11 Pro slots at the mid-range to upper mid-range segment in terms of its internal components.

Of course, the star of the show is going to be the HUAWEI nova 11 Pro’s camera system. The nova 11 Pro features a 60MP Ultra Portrait Dual Camera and an 8MP Close-up lens at the front.

At the rear, we get a 50MP RYYB Ultra Vision main lens, an 8MP ultra-wide macro camera, and a laser autofocusing sensor.

The headliner here is the 60MP lens which HUAWEI says is capable of capturing a 100-degree ultra-wide field of view. The front lens can also shoot 4K video at 30fps, and FHD or 1080p video at both 30 and 60 fps.

With the front camera system on the nova 11 Pro, users will also be able to shoot a ton of different angles such as a 0.7X ultrawide, a 2X zoom for close-ups, and even a 5X selfie.

Meanwhile, the 50MP main shooter at the rear is also capable of shooting 4K video at 30 fps, and 1080p video at both 30 and 60 frames per second. HUAWEI says that the 50MP lens can take great portrait mode photos, especially at 2x.

The nova 11 Pro’s camera system also has a built-in Vlog Mode that allows users to shoot multiple camera angles at once.

Nova 11 Pro (10)

It can shoot your standard rear and front video individually — and also capture footage with different video combinations using the phone’s available lenses. We’re excited to test out the different vlog combos you can use with the nova 11 Pro so stay tuned as we continue our testing.

We’ve actually shot a few sample photos and videos with the HUAWEI nova 11 Pro, which you can check out here:

Last but not least is battery. The HUAWEI nova 11 Pro comes with a 4500 mAh battery, with support for 100W SuperCharge Turbo charging.

Nova 11 Pro (5)

HUAWEI says that with the 100W fast charging, the nova 11 Pro can get to 60% in just 10 minutes and 100% (when the screen is turned off) in 20 minutes. Don’t worry, we’ll check to see if these numbers are accurate.

In terms of price, the HUAWEI nova 11 Pro will be priced at an SRP of Php 33,999.

However, those who pre-order the 11 Pro can get it bundled with a free HUAWEI WATCH FIT fitness band (worth Php 4,999) for the same Php 33,999 price tag.

We’ll share more details and information in terms of availability once we know more.

There we have it, our quick hands-on and first impressions of the all-new HUAWEI nova 11 Pro. It looks to be another strong offering from HUAWEI’s nova line and a promising vlogging and selfie-focused smartphone.
