The new Samsung Galaxy S24 Series just went official last week, and users might want to keep their Galaxy S- Ultra devices away from Apple MagSafe.
As reported by Android Central, attaching a MagSafe accessory to an Ultra variant of the Galaxy S24, S23, and S23 causes the S-Pen stylus to malfunction.
Here’s their video demo to illustrate:
Android Central says that the problem lies with the magnetic nature of both MagSafe and S-Pen’s technology. “The S Pen’s Wacom digitizer works by using magnets, which is why MagSafe accessories are causing interference,” explained Nicholas Sutrich who discovered the issue.
While this issue doesn’t affect every MagSafe accessory, Sutrich recommends not using MagSafe accessories at all with any Galaxy S- Ultra device.
He further explained that some MagSafe cases have enough protective layer that keeps its magnets from interfering with the phone’s stylus and internals. “But it’s wise at this point to stop using any MagSafe accessory with your S Pen-enabled phone to ensure the best working order.”
