Canon outs 35mm macro lens with built-in light source
Canon is introducing a new kind of lens — the EF-S 35mm F2.8 Macro IS STM. It is an addition to the company’s EF range of lenses which is compatible with a number of APS-C DSLR cameras. Although what makes this unique than other lenses out there is that it has its own built-in light source to effectively illuminate your subjects.
EF-S 35mm F2.8 Macro IS STM key specs and features:
Macro lens with built in Macro Lite
Life-size 1.0x magnification
Closest working distance of 30mm
Near silent and smooth focusing
Optical Image Stabilizer with Hybrid IS
7 blade Circular Aperture producing smooth bokeh
Super Spectra Coating
Unique lens design with macro
The EF-S 35mm F2.8 Macro IS STM boasts a 1:1 magnification and can capture subjects as close as 30mm from its tapered lens perfect for bringing out the tiniest details. It also has an optical image stabilization (OIS) system with hybrid IS to make sure the subject is sharply focused.
Its built-in light, called the Macro Lite, delivers flexible lighting options since you can decide to turn on one of the two or both lights at the same time.
It will reportedly arrive in the UK in May with a retail price of £400.
