Discord is facing a serious security incident after confirming a breach linked to its third-party customer support partner, Zendesk. While the company initially reported that only a “small number” of government IDs were accessed, new findings suggest the exposure could be much larger than first communicated.

Data stolen includes names, usernames, emails, IP addresses, billing details, and support chat logs. More concerning, however, are driver’s licenses and passports submitted by users during Discord’s age verification appeals. Security researcher vx-underground claims the number of compromised IDs may reach into the millions, though Discord has not confirmed this.
Zendesk emphasized that its platform itself wasn’t breached, but the incident still underscores the risks of relying on third-party vendors. Discord says it is directly emailing all affected users. Impacted accounts will get a notice from [email protected].
