Globe is finally offering Prepaid eSIM… but the catch is tourists get to taste the new product first. Through the Globe Prepaid Traveler eSIM, international tourists coming to the Philippines now have a more seamless and convenient way to connect with Globe’s mobile network.
According to Globe, the Traveler eSIM will be conveniently available via its GlobeOne app. Thus, a tourist can make an early purchase of an eSIM prior to arriving in the Philippines. Since it is readily available digitally in-app, tourists can avoid the long queue just to get a traditional traveler SIM.
Once installed, the app will run a compatibility check if a tourist’s device is eSIM-ready. At this time, the Traveler eSIM is initially available on iOS and will soon expand to Android devices.
“With the Traveler eSIM, Globe is once again at the forefront of telco innovation. We’ve always been attuned to the evolving needs of our global clientele, and this offering is a direct response to that,” said Darius Delgado, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business.
“We want to ensure that every international visitor enjoys a seamless and enriched connectivity experience from the outset.”
In accordance with the Philippine SIM Registration Act, all Traveler eSIMs are subject for registration and that it will be valid for 30 days. Should the tourist stay beyond a month, they can easily repurchase another traveler eSIM via the GlobeOne app.
Globe says reloading are also done within the app, but assuming this acts like a local, physical SIM, other loading stations or places should be able top-up one’s Traveler eSIM as well.
Fortunately for the tourists whose devices don’t have eSIM capability, traditional traveler SIMs are still available at airport terminals upon arrival.
The company has yet to reveal the price of its Prepaid Traveler eSIM.

Anong pinagsasabe ni Darius Delgado of Globe dito? Are they aware na Smart launched their prepaid eSims two months ago?
rui says:
Hmm, more like ~4 months ago (July) for the first Smart prepaid eSIM and less than 2 months ago (Sept) for eSIM QR code email delivery. Yung travel eSIM nga ng Smart, meron dati sa Airalo (launched in 2021). I think tinanggal lang when the SIM registration law passed.
But yeah, I don’t see how Globe can claim they’re at the forefront when Smart was months and even years ahead.

I’ve been looking for it sa Globe one app nila e wala naman ako makita na option for eSIM. Currently here in Germany
rui says:
On the GlobeOne app, select “Create an account” then “Purchase an eSIM for PH visitors”. The plan costs ₱750 for 15 days 20GB, unlimited calls and texts. Presyong tourista talaga. Again, since this eSIM is intended for foreigners/tourists, it expires in 30 days.
On Smart prepaid eSIM, you get access to local promos so you can get 30 days 24GB, unlimited calls and texts for ₱500. I think they have a 12GB/week promo for ₱150 so that’s ₱300 if you’re only there for 2 weeks.
JarodXG says:
Why would I buy a Globe Prepaid Traveler eSIM for ₱1,750 (approx. $32) disposable after a maximum of 30 days, when I can buy a Smart Prepaid eSIM for only ₱99 (approx. $1.80) useable as long as I can fund it?
