Just got an early morning call today from a Globe representative telling me that my subscription is eligible for an upgrade to 400Mbps from the old 100Mbps by adding only Php600USD 10INR 867EUR 10CNY 74 in my monthly service fee.
So I agreed to the upgrade which would change my plan from Php2,899USD 49INR 4,188EUR 47CNY 360 to Php3,499USD 60INR 5,055EUR 57CNY 434 and that should take effect within the next 7 days. I’ve had this subscription since 2016 so I’m out of the lock-in period, there will be no new contractual period for this upgrade.
I checked the latest fiber internet plans from Globe and it seems they no longer offer the Plan 2899 and the speeds have already been bumped up as well. That’s 150Mbps for Php2,099USD 36INR 3,032EUR 34CNY 260 and 300Mbps for Php2,699USD 46INR 3,899EUR 44CNY 335 so it just makes sense that the old Plan 2899 had to evolve in favor of a higher speed plan.
Since there isn’t really a standard 400Mbps plan in Globe’s current line-up, I think this upgrade is a custom one for subscribers who are stuck with the old 100Mbps/Php2,899USD 49INR 4,188EUR 47CNY 360 plan from years back.
From a business standpoint, this is the most logical path — the 500Mbps standard plan is a bit far off (Php4,999USD 85INR 7,222EUR 81CNY 620 from Php2,899USD 49INR 4,188EUR 47CNY 360) for an upgrade while the new 300Mbps plan (at Php2,699USD 46INR 3,899EUR 44CNY 335) would result in a reduced MSF of Php200USD 3INR 289EUR 3CNY 25 if Globe had to upgrade the plan (100Mbps/2,899 -> 300Mbps/2699). A custom 400Mbps speed plan at Php3,499USD 60INR 5,055EUR 57CNY 434 looks like the sweet spot. So I said yes and now waiting for the new speed upgrade.
Anyone else received the same call this week?

updated may Dad’s P2499 100MMbps with 1TB data, to P2499 250Mbps unli.
they do not advertise the speed, and only visible when i tried to upgrade through their messenger app.
Andrew says:
This is the perfect plan for Globe. It’s not 800 like converge or 600 like PLDT, but I’ll get it.
Chunkylover says:
The old P3499 200Mbps plan was changed to P3499 400Mbps for current subscribers.
Sam says:
I’ll take the 4999 plan with 1 Gbps thank you. Seriously you have to be more competitive. Converge offers 800 Mbps for just 3,500 – why can?t you.

Plan P2,899 for current globe at home subscribers is now 350 mbps. I think adding P600 for the extra 50 mbps is not worth it
Andrew says:
Upgrading via FB messenger is annoying. I was told wait for someone to call me, but I’ve been waiting for 3 days now. Now, the bot isn’t even working anymore…. these things should be done on their website. Not on an unreliable bot :D
I wish they can make it at least 500mbps… although knowing Globe, they always give speeds more than advertised. I always get 250-270 out of my 200mbps plan.
Anthony says:
You got scammed. I reached out via messenger about the 2699 plan, they said it was only for new subscribers. So i asked can i get the speed similar if not better, they said they can update my speed to 350mbps. So i said yes and in less than 24 hrs i got the updated speed.
Mading says:
Nice to read about these speeds. In the province the speed is getting worth and worth. These days I am lucky to see 500 kbits/s from GLOBE. Looks like GLOBE moved the “internet speed” to the major cities or even only Manila?
But we have to pay the same monthly fee as in Manila with expected data transfer rate. What do you think, is that okay that the province sponsers the costs of good internet in Manila?

Ric Hernando says:
So far here in the province, DITO is far better than globe running 45mbps on prepaid plan. Globe that only run on a pathetic max of 10 mbps with outdoor antenna pointed at a globe transmission tower.
mcaft.joshua says:
I have trust issues with Globe already. Field tech came to my house one day and told me they will upgrade my briadband to a fiber connection for free. I did not request for it so I verified with their billing/collection line (since I could no longer talk with a CSR thru 211). They confirned it was free since they’re in the process of migrating all broadband subscribers to fiber. I made sure to ask if it comes with a new lock in period because Idl told them I’ll decline the upgrade if it means another 2 years of being locked in. Both field tech and billing/collection rep said it doesn’t cone with a lock in. But after a few weeks, I had problems with their service and told the CSR who called me that I might just look for another ISP. And he just dropped the news that my account is still locked in because of the upgrade to fiber. Scammers!
