Huawei unveils all-new trio of nova 14, Pro, and Ultra models

Listen to article

Fresh off the press, Huawei has just debuted a new trio of smartphones. These are the Huawei nova 14, Pro, and Ultra models. Here’s everything you need to know about these three.

As expected, these three receive gradual improvements over one another as we go up in price. The base nova 14 receives a 6.7-inch flat display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2412×1084 resolution. Standing at the middle is the nova 14 Pro with a slightly larger 6.78-inch curved panel, now with an adaptive version of the same 120Hz refresh rate, while the Ultra stands at the peak with its 6.81-inch screen. The Ultra has been advertised to reach a peak brightness level of 5,500 nits, protected by the company’s in-house Kunlun glass.

The latter two are LTPO panels, but all three are marketed to have built-in eye care features for reduced usage strain.

The hierarchy then continues to the optics side of things. The base Huawei nova 14 sports a triple-camera rear setup composed of a 50-megapixel main shooter, 12-megapixel telephoto and 8-megapixel ultrawide lens. The selfie camera in front is a single 50-megapixel shooter.

Meanwhile, the Huawei nova 14 Pro and Ultra both share a dual front-camera arrangement with the base’s 50-megapixel, accompanied by an extra 8-megapixel sensor. Their main shooters are also identical, a 50-megapixel sensor with variable aperture and OIS. Despite the identical megapixel count, is not to be mistaken as the same one in the base nova 14.

Where the two differ is in their supporting optics – with the Pro receiving the exact same arrangement as the base Huawei nova 14, while the Ultra gets a bump up to a secondary 50-megapixel periscope lens and a 13-megapixel ultrawide. We hope that this isn’t too confusing.

Other similarities include the same 5,500 mAh battery capable of 100W fast charging, as well as IP65 water and dust resistance. There is also support for satellite messaging across the entire lineup, as well as an entire suite of AI camera features (if that’s your thing). All phones will also come with Huawei’s very own HarmonyOS 5.0 out of the box.

Do you feel like there’s something missing? We noticed that too. Sadly, there isn’t any news yet of the processor/s onboard, but we’ll let you know once we have more information.

Huawei nova 14 Series Pricing

The base Huawei nova 14 is slated to come in at CNY 2699 for the 256GB version, CNY 2999 for the 512GB version, and CNY 3,199 for the 512GB version with Kunlun glass reinforcements. The Pro, as expected, is one step above: at CNY 3,499 (256GB), CNY 3,799 (512GB), and CNY 3,999 for the Kunlun glass variant.

As the top-shelf item, the Huawei nova 14 Ultra starts at CNY 4,199 for the base 256GB variant then maxes out at CNY 4,999 for the 1TB version.
