ikotMNL app adds contact tracing and navigation features

ikotMNL, the mobile app developed by Light Rail Manila Corporation for its commuters, adds contact tracing and navigation features on its update.

Through the app, LRT-1 passengers may activate the contact tracing feature, detecting other passengers nearby via Bluetooth. Those who may have come into close proximity with a fellow passenger who reports or tags himself as COVID-19 positive will be notified by government authorities when the respective contact tracing procedure begins. This protects the identity of the passengers as well as the confirmed COVID-19 patients.

LRMC has also partnered with Sakay.PH to offer navigation features on the ikotMNL app. Commuters may check transit directions for jeepneys, trains, P2P buses, UV Express, shuttles, and Pasig River Ferry among others in Metro Manila. They may also check their estimated time of travel to their destination

The initiatives are part of LRMC’s plan in keeping the commuters’ health safe as the country fight against COVID-19.

The said features of the ikotMNL app roll out this month in iOS and Android devices.
