The MediaTek Dimensity 7400 and MediaTek Dimensity 7400x have been unveiled. The new chips are almost identical, with the difference being that the 7400x comes with dual-display support for foldables.

The chipsets are built on TSMC’s 4nm process node, and offer 14 to 36 percent lower power consumption for gaming. It features MediaTek’s NPU 6.0 as well, which claims to improve performance by 15% over the Dimensity 7300.

Both chips feature four (4) Cortex-A78 cores with up to 2.6GHz clock speeds and four (4) Cortex-A55 cores with up to 2GHz clock speeds. It’s a small change, seeing as the previous 7300 series clocks up to 2.5GHz.

Graphics-wise, there’s no changes. It still comes with a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU and a sixth-gen APU 655. As for what’s new, MediaTek has added Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0. This is designed to balance performance and battery life during gaming sessions.

The chips support either LPDDR5 or LPDDR4X RAM with up to 6Mbps. For storage, it can support UFS 2.2 or UFS 3.1. For its cameras, it still has an Imagiq 950 ISP with support for 12-bit HDR-ISP. This supports up to 200-megapixel sensors.

Wrapping up, it features MediaTek’s Network Observation System (NOS). This provides improvements in accuracy for 5G or Wi-Fi connectivity. In addition, the chip supports 5G with 3CC carrier aggregation, Wi-Fi 6 (2.4GHz, 5GHz, 6GHz), and Bluetooth 5.4.
