MediaTek unveils Helio G96 and Helio G88 SoCs

MediaTek has announced two additions to its Helio G series, the Helio G96 and Helio G88 SoCs, which provide an upgrade for smartphone displays and photography capabilities.

According to MediaTek, the Helio G96 SoC will ensure support for 120Hz displays with up to FullHD+ resolution. Additionally, the Helio G96 120Hz display has no limitation in DDIC supply, C-phy or D-phy interface, and would support both LCD or AMOLED displays. Furthermore, it will be capable of up to 108MP cameras, fast Cat-13 4G LTE WorldMode modem integration, dual 4G SIM and VoLTE and ViLTE services, as well as Intelligent Resource Management Engine and Networking Engine.

On the other hand, the Helio G88 will support 90Hz displays. Its octa-core CPU features two ARM Cortex-A75 CPUs operating at up to 2.0GHz, enabling responsive reactions, fast app loading, and camera captures. In addition, the Helio G88 will support up to 64MP main cameras, a hardware depth engine for dual-camera-camera bokeh captures, a Camera Control Unit (CCU), and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC) technologies.

Key features of the MediaTek Helio G88 include:
• 64MP main cameras
• MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Lite generation technologies
• Dual 4G VoLTE
• Integrated Voice Wakeup

MediaTek has not revealed anything about the price and availability for either of the chips. The devices to be powered by the chips are yet to be announced.
