The Messenger logo has been changed to blue again, but with a bit of a darker shade. We’ll leave an image below that shows its difference from then to now.

The first initial design change to the platform’s logo happened in 2020. Messenger adopted a gradient colorway back then that blended blue, pink, and purple.
This was reminiscent of Instagram’s color scheme, which falls under Meta’s platforms now. This change from before was part of efforts to visually unify apps under Meta’s umbrellas.
We’re unsure yet whether or not the change is permanent or part of a larger scale shift in design. It’s a bit odd that only the Messenger logo went through the change while WhatsApp remained relatively untouched.
For now, users may feel a semblance of nostalgia as the classic blue logo has returned. We’ll update readers should we get further details on why Meta has gone through the change.
