Nikon acquires RED digital cinema camera manufacturers

Nikon Corporation has recently announced their acquisition of RED.com, LLC.

In a recent press release, Nikon unveiled an agreement to acquire 100% of RED’s outstanding membership interests. RED is slated to become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nikon, which has notably won an Academy Award for its contributions to the film industry.

RED introduced industry-defining products such as the RED ONE 4K and the V-RAPTOR [X] with proprietary RAW compression technology.

With Nikon and RED at an agreement, the combined expertise in product development, color science, and optical technologies is promising.

Nikon is set to leverage this acquisition to expand the growing professional digital cinema camera market. Both companies in unison will pave the way for an exciting future of product development pushing boundaries for video production.
