Spotify Messages introduced to encourage more interactions

Listen to article

Spotify has announced the addition of Messages, a new feature allowing users more room for interaction in the app. This includes sharing music, podcasts, and audiobooks directly.

At the time of writing, it’s being rolled out in select markets. Users can start conversations by tapping the share icon on a track or podcast and selecting a contact.

Messages can be sent to users on the same Spotify plan or users previously connected through collaborative playlists. Shared content appears in a dedicated inbox for easier sorting.

The tool supports text messages, emojis, and is protected by encryption. Users may also manage privacy with options to block, disable the feature, or reject message requests.

Spotify will also scan the messages for harmful content and review supported messages. Messages is available to free and premium users who want to streamline music sharing on the platform.

For those wondering, Spotify has yet to confirm whether artists will be able to message their fans in the app.
