Been getting a lot of comments from readers regarding this certain Magic IP from Globe which allegedly allows users to be able to still surf the net even with zero load. So I sent out a message to @talk2globe if they knew anything about it. All I got was this answer -- @talk2globe: Nope! After a couple of tries, I was able to surf the net using a Globe Tattoo and a Globe SIM card with no load in it except for a few hundred free SMS credits. This is because you can still dial-in and connect to their network without any load credits (what Globe does is cap your bandwidth down to 0kbps until you reload). It looks like the Magic IPs are a block of IP addresses you can use as a proxy to bypass the bandwidth cap set by the network (or something to that effect). The Magic IPs actually expire or is eventually blocked by Globe's network engineers every month so users will look for a new set of IPs. What's actually more interesting is that a number of enterprising people who have early access to new sets of Magic IPs would actually peddle them -- all for a very low price of Php200.
