Waze has featured several limited-time voice and theme collaborations. These include the Batman theme with voices from Kevin Conroy (Batman) and Wally Wingert (The Riddler) available until October 31, 2020; a Halo Infinite theme featuring Master Chief or Escharum as navigators; a Retro Mode celebrating the '70s, '80s, and '90s; and Filipino voices like Mimiyuuuh and Catriona Gray.

Following the mandate for cashless toll payments, Waze rolled out an RFID update that allows drivers to add their AutoSweep or EasyTrip passes in the app's settings. The app will then route users only through toll roads accessible with their registered RFID pass. If a user opts out, Waze will provide routes that avoid tollways entirely.

During the pandemic, Waze introduced several safety-focused features. These included a 'Drive only if necessary' notification, the ability to search for locations offering drive-thru and curbside pickups, a search function for COVID-19 donation center drop-offs, and updated pins for reference laboratories. The app also made a COVID-19 Impact Dashboard available to the public.
