How was PLDT Watchpad during the fight?

Last month, PLDT sent out word to subscribers that they’ve prepared the network for the live-streaming of the Pacquiao-Clottey fight on WatchPad. Manny turned out  a winner but how about PLDT’s WatchPad?

I wasn’t able to use WatchPad since my rig is running on Windows 7 64-bit (hope they’d fix that soon) so I can’t comment if there was an improvement.

However, they sent in another note, complete with testimonials, which says:

The fight streamed as smoothly as a ringside seat.

Last March 14, thousands of PLDT myDSL Watchpad subscribers saw every punch traded between Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey for FREE. The Event was streamed live to their PCs from the Cowboys Stadium in Texas with no lags, cuts, or reasons to wait for an hours-delayed replay on local TV.

On the homefront, it wasn’t just our very own Manny that received the judges’ winning marks, as scores of PLDT myDSL subscribers went online to express their congratulations and thanks for Watchpad’s flawless coverage. Posts of praise were coming up on its Facebook, and Twitter pages; with more threads of satisfaction spinning from TipidPC.

On Facebook:

“Mas ok ang streaming ngayon, mabilis… Good job!”

“…Quality of video and audio better than other sites.”

“Smooth streaming on Watchpad now…”

On Twitter:

“Switched to pldt watchpad. Better video-audio quality…”

“Watching the PACQUIAO-CLOTTEY LIVE STREAM in the comfort of my bed… watchpad rocks!”

“…PLDT Watchpad streaming continuously. OMG Walang lag!”

On Tipid PC:

“Ayos! Natapos ang laban na walang lag dito sa connection ko.”

“Good job for the watchpad team…”

“Congrats pacman… astig watchpad!”

We’d like to thank the thousands of subscribers who stood in our corner to cheer us on. Our successful coverage of The Event is just one of many exclusives to come. And proof that there’s no better time to be a PLDT myDSL subscriber now that PLDT myDSL Watchpad has become more than just FREE TV on your PC.

With 18 FREE channels featuring award-winning movies, our very own shows, and more live coverage of coming worldwide events, PLDT myDSL Watchpad is already the entertainment portal you deserve it to be. Aside from Manny’s latest fight, you may also catch reruns featuring other events covered live on myView Highlights:

Of course, it’s never a hitch-free ride. Did you experience any improvements from last time? Let’s see if we get more ayes than nayes.

My computer runs Windows 7 64 Ultimate bit.
Watchpad works on it! It should not have any compatibility issues since the .NET framework is universal on Windows.

If Watchpad does not work on your computer, it’s likely because of your computer’s settings.
You have to make sure Adobe Flash runs properly on your Internet Explorer, otherwise you will encounter errors in installation. If flash does not run properly, you have to fix your IE’s settings.

PLDT sent out word to subscribers that they’ve prepared the network for the live-streaming. The video was poor. I like to
    watch pacquiao vs mosley
fight which is a tough competition.

My father-in-law wasn’t happy when he tried to register for a Watchpad account: it asked much, and was even exacting when it came to passwords (seems that it’s easier to register an account on Facebook). Furthermore the interface isn’t much helpful, with fancy inline frames and popup boxes (that IE8 doesn’t like).

Then there were some problems with the software especially when installing the player and activex controls.

Finally, should he or she loses the account, they have to call a service number, instead of using simple password-retrieval options.

Goodness, I don’t know why they have to make it so hard for some senior citizens who want to watch their favorite boxing matches. We’d rather watch the next bout at the theater; they should not put up all that rigmarole.

i wonder how many people actually used WatchPad for the fight. coz I sure didn’t, having learned my lesson.

maybe that’s why it’s so smooth now. because there’s less people using it, lol.

we were not able to login to watchpad nung pacquiao clottey fight. who cares anyway, nag enjoy kami sa payperview being shown at our home theater. boring nga lang ang fight.

I did’nt know that PLDT requires you to sign up everytime you want to watch watchpad. We already register for the Pacman-Cotto fight and I even watch shows from time to time just not to make our account idle, but when we watch the pacman-clottey, the system does not recognize us.. ggr… anyhow… it’s a good thing that there’s internet… we where able to watch it else where. :)
