0:00Hello from the other side, CJ here and
0:03it’s that time of year again when we
0:05look back to smartphones that we have
0:07reviewed this 2025. So for today’s
0:09video, we picked five of our most
0:11favorite smartphones that really stood
0:13out in the lower mid-range segment.
0:15We’re talking smartphones that are
0:17priced at just under 15,000 pesos. And
0:19without further ado, let’s jump right
0:22into this video.
0:26Kicking things off, we have the Infinix
0:28GT305G and the GT30 Pro 5G. The latter
0:32being the most powerful one in this
0:34list. I know gaming ccentric phones
0:36aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but the
0:38amount of performance you’re getting out
0:40of these two devices is pretty good,
0:42maybe even better than most phones for
0:44their price. Case in point, the base
0:46model is equipped with the Dimensity
0:477400 chip. And just like the Pro model,
0:50it comes with those fancy rear lighting
0:52and shoulder gears. Meanwhile, the Pro
0:54model boasts the Dimensity 8350
0:57Ultimate, a trip that you’d typically
0:58find in more expensive mid-range phones.
1:01Trying out games is smooth, even the
1:03graphic intensive ones, and it’s even
1:05smoother with lighter games like Mobile
1:07Legends, and can easily achieve 120 FPS
1:10of stability. Yes, the base model can
1:12hit that number, too. Specs- wise,
1:14everything except for the camera and
1:16storage is similar. You get a 6.78 in
1:191.5K AMOLED display with up to 144 hertz
1:22refresh rate and 4500 nits of peak
1:24brightness. Battery for both is rated
1:265500 milliamp hour paired with 45 watts
1:29wired charging but only the Pro has 30 W
1:31of wireless charging. These phones
1:33support bypass charging which is
1:35something that other brands still lack.
1:37I’m looking at you Poco. Both phones
1:40differ in cameras as well. The base
1:41model gets a 64 megapixel main shooter
1:44while the Pro gets a 108 megapixel
1:46sensor. No OIS here, but that’s to be
1:48expected. Talking about the price
1:50though, the difference isn’t that big.
1:52The Infin GT30 Pro 5G with 8 GB of RAM
1:55and 256 GB of storage retails for 13,999
1:59pesos. And for the same configuration,
2:01the base model goes even cheaper at
2:0411,999 pesos. Now, camera performance is
2:07usually a hit or miss with phones under
2:0915K, but the Technocon 40 Pro 5G proves
2:12to hit good marks in this area. For
2:15starters, it has a 50 megapixel main
2:16shooter with optical image stabilization
2:19or OIS. It’s joined by an 8 megapixel
2:21ultrawide sensor. It also comes with
2:23another 50 megapixel sensor up front for
2:25selfies. That sounded good on paper
2:27already. And in reality, the photos and
2:29videos come out of this thing are
2:31comparable with higher-end models. It’s
2:33backed by a strong chipset as well, the
2:35Dementity 7300 Ultimate. But what seals
2:38the deal is its flagship tier
2:39durability. This GU is IP68 and IP69
2:43rated, which means it provides a high
2:45level of protection against dust,
2:46especially water submersion and high
2:48temperatures. Up front, it sports a 6.78
2:51in full HD plus AMOLED screen with 144
2:54Herz refresh rate and 4500 nits of peak
2:57brightness. Battery wise, it has a 5200
2:59millia battery paired with 45 watts of
3:02wired charging. The Technocon 40 Pro 5G
3:04sets you back 12,999 pesos for the 8 GB
3:08plus 256 GB configuration. Next, we have
3:11an interesting release from Nubia, which
3:12is the Nubia Air 5G. Does it look and
3:15sound familiar? Well, that’s because
3:17this is the iPhone Air at home. Jokes
3:20aside, this is a fun phone to use,
3:23mainly because it’s light and compact in
3:25hand. It weighs 172 g, and it has a
3:27frame that measures a mere 5.9 mm at the
3:30thinnest point. That’s a hair thicker
3:32than the iPhone Air with a 5.6 mm frame
3:35for reference. Its camera performance is
3:37surprisingly good for taking photos to
3:39say the least. At the rear, it has a 50
3:41megapixel main shooter and a 2 megapixel
3:44macro sensor. In terms of performance,
3:46it’s decent. The phone is powered by the
3:48UNISOC T8300, which is mostly good for
3:50casual and lighter games. Despite the
3:53insanely thin frame, Nubio was able to
3:55throw in a 5,000 mAh battery with 33
3:58watts of wire charging. On top of that,
4:00the phone is not as fragile as you might
4:02think. The phone secures IP68, IP69, and
4:06even IP69K for that super extra peace of
4:09mind. The Nubia Air 5G goes for 12,999
4:12pesos for the sole 8 GB plus 256 GB
4:15configuration. Looking for an
4:16all-rounder phone? Then the Redmi Note
4:1814 5G just might be the one that offers
4:21a balanced experience. It has a nice
4:23screen, good cameras, and solid battery
4:25life. Not to mention, it has a couple of
4:27old but gold features like the 3.5 mil
4:30headphone jack and a micro SD card slot
4:32for storage expansion. And I’m afraid
4:34this is going to be one of the last good
4:36phones that has such features. But yeah,
4:39going back to the specs, the phone is
4:40powered by the Demensity 7025 Ultra
4:43combined with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of
4:46expandable storage. Display-wise, it
4:48features a 6.67 in full HD plus AMOLED
4:51panel running at up to 120 Hz refresh
4:53rate. Notably, it has a versatile camera
4:55setup led by 108 megapixel main sensor
4:58with OIS alongside an 8 megap ultrawide
5:00and 2 megapixel macro lenses. The
5:02battery is rated at 5,110 mAh capacity
5:06paired with 45 watts of wired charging.
5:08In our testing, the phone managed to get
5:09a solid uptime of 17 hours and 35
5:12minutes, so that says a lot. The Redmi
5:14Note 14 5G starting price is 13,999
5:17pesos for the 8 GB plus 256 GB config.
5:20One last entry for this list is a bit
5:23over the budget, but it would be a waste
5:25not to include it. The Nothing Phone 3A
5:27Lite. This guy has a retail price of
5:2915,490. But with frequent sales coming
5:32up, getting it at a lower price is
5:34definitely possible. Weirdly enough, for
5:36a Nothing Phone, its design ain’t really
5:38giving compared to the more expensive
5:41models. Well, not everything is about
5:43looks. After all, design is subjective.
5:45Where the Nothing Phone 3A Lite pulls
5:47through is its software stability.
5:49Nothing is known for offering optimized
5:51software and consistent update policies,
5:53and that holds true for this phone. No
5:55bloatware to be found except for a few
5:56first-party apps like the Essential
5:58Space. It even has the longer software
6:01support in this list, promising up to 3
6:03years of major OS upgrades and 6 years
6:05of security patches. Specs- wise, it
6:07sports a 6.77 in AMOLED display with 120
6:10Hz refresh rate and a Demen City 7300
6:13Pro chipset. is a triple camera setup at
6:15the rear. A 50 megapixel main shooter,
6:17an 8 megapixel ultrawide, and a 2
6:19megapixel macro sensor. And
6:20battery-wise, it packs the usual 5,000
6:23mAh unit, 10 to 33 watts of wired
6:25charging. And that’s about it for this
6:27list. Will you pick any of them soon?
