0:00So, by the time this video comes out,
0:01you’ve probably already watched our
0:03videos on the Samsung Galaxy Zfold 7 and
0:08also the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 along
0:10with the Z Flip FE. But did you know
0:12that aside from these two phones,
0:14Samsung also launched a bunch of
0:16wearables at the Galaxy Unpacked event?
0:18And in fact, I’m wearing one of them
0:20right now. This is the new Samsung
0:23Galaxy Watch Ultra. And here with me is
0:26the new Samsung Galaxy Watch Series 8.
0:30Over here on my left is the standard
0:32Series 8 model. And on my right is the
0:35classic model which has a rotating bezel
0:38which you can use to navigate the menu.
0:41It’s perfect if you miss the old Samsung
0:43Galaxy watches that still had the
0:45rotating bezel to navigate around the
0:48menu. But which one of these should you
0:50pick? Well, stay tuned for a quick
0:52hands-on review video of the new Samsung
0:54Galaxy Watch Series 8 and the new Galaxy
0:56Watch Ultra on my wrist right now.
1:03[Music]
1:06Let’s start things off with the new
1:07Galaxy Watch 8 series. There are two
1:09variants of the Watch 8 available, the
1:10standard Watch 8 and the Watch 8
1:12Classic. The main difference between the
1:14two, the Watch 8 Classic comes with a
1:16rotating bezel, a feature that Galaxy
1:18Watch users have surely missed from the
1:20Watch 7 series. As for the standard
1:22Watch 8, it doesn’t come with a rotating
1:24bezel. In terms of the styling, the
1:26regular Watch 8 adopts a fresh new
1:28design featuring a squarish case paired
1:30with a circular display which is
1:31inspired by the Watch Ultra. It is
1:33available in two different sizes, 40 mm
1:35and 44 mm. The 40mm model features a
1:38smaller 1.34 in display while the 44mm
1:40model comes with a 1.47 and 47in
1:43display. Both use a super AMOLED panel
1:44with up to 3,000 nits peak brightness.
1:47No matter which variant you choose, they
1:49are noticeably thinner, measuring just
1:508.6 mm thick. As for the Watch 8
1:53Classic, it only comes in one size,
1:55that’s 46 mm. This means if you have a
1:57smaller wrist, it might look a bit big
1:59on you, but on my wrist and Miguel’s
2:00wrist, it looks great. It also adopts
2:02the squarish case seen on the standard
2:04Watch 8, but this time it has a rotating
2:06bezel that gives it a sporty look and
2:08feel. One thing that is new on the Watch
2:098 Classic is the addition of the quick
2:11button. Similar to the one on the Galaxy
2:13Watch Ultra, it’s the crown located in
2:15between the two buttons on the case. It
2:17can also be programmed to use in various
2:19ways. Despite measuring 46 mm, the Watch
2:228 Classic features a 1.34 in display
2:25using the same Super AMOLED panel with
2:263,000 nits peak brightness as the
2:28standard watch 8. Thanks to its design,
2:30it is a bit thicker, measuring 10.6 mm,
2:32but at least you do get a rotating
2:34bezel. Two colors are available for the
2:36Watch 8 Classic, white and black. The
2:37case itself remains standard with a
2:39brush metal finish, while the bezel and
2:41strap change colors. Both the Watch 8
2:43and Watch 8 Classic use the Exynos W1003
2:46nanometer chip with 2 GB of RAM.
2:48However, the Watch 8 comes with only 32
2:50GB of storage, while the 8 Classic is
2:52doubled at 64 GB. For reference, it’s
2:54the same chip found in the previous
2:56Watch 7 series. While the chipset is
2:58carryover from before, the battery is
3:00marginally bigger. The 40mm Watch 8 now
3:03features a 325m hour battery, while the
3:0644mm variant comes with 435 mAh battery.
3:09Meanwhile, the Watch 8 Classic is
3:11equipped with a 445 millia battery pack.
3:14Both watches ship with One UI8 watch,
3:16which comes with a bunch of new
3:18features, including real-time feedback
3:20during workouts, high stress alert, and
3:22even a mood tracker. Due to our limited
3:24time with the device, we didn’t really
3:25get to try them out. However, stay tuned
3:27for our full review, so you can see us
3:28trying out these new features. As for
3:30the Watch Ultra, it’s not exactly the
3:32new Watch Ultra 2 as we expected.
3:34Instead, it’s more of an update from
3:36last year. The design is identical
3:38before, but it does get a new color,
3:40titanium blue. There’s also a lot more
3:42storage space available now, which is 64
3:44GB. And that’s pretty much it on the new
3:48watch Ultra, or rather updated Watch
3:50Ultra. It also ships with 1 UI 8 watch,
3:52giving it the same features as the new
3:54Watch 8 series. Now, for the price,
3:56similar to the new foldable smartphones,
3:58there’s also a price hike for Samsung’s
3:59new wearables. The 40mm Galaxy Watch 8
4:02starts at 20,990 pesos, while the 44mm
4:05variant cost 22,990 pesos. If you want
4:08the LTE version of the 40mm Watch 8,
4:10that will set you back 23,990 pesos. As
4:13for the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, it
4:15starts at 29,990 pesos, while the LTE
4:17variant retails for 32,990 pesos.
4:20Lastly, the updated Galaxy Watch Ultra
4:22now retails at 40,990 pesos. Yes,
4:26they’re a lot more expensive now. But if
4:27you bundle it with the phones, you might
4:28be able to get them at a discount or
4:30even for free. Check out the Samsung
4:32Philippines website and see for yourself
4:34what you can get for the new Galaxy
4:36Watch 8 series and the updated Galaxy
4:38Watch Ultra. Now that you’ve seen all of
4:41the new Samsung Galaxy Watches, which
4:43one is for you? Would you pick the
4:46Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra or would you
4:49get the Samsung Galaxy Watch Series 8
4:51Classic or would you even get just the
4:54standard Samsung Galaxy Watch Series 8?
4:57Whatever the case, share your thoughts

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the main difference between the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Watch 8 Classic?

The key difference is the rotating bezel. The Watch 8 Classic brings back that physical rotating bezel for navigating menus, a feature many longtime Samsung watch users love. The standard Watch 8 does not have this.

What sizes are available for the new Galaxy Watch 8?

The standard Galaxy Watch 8 comes in two sizes: a 40mm model and a larger 44mm model, so you can choose what fits your wrist and style best.

Is the new design very different from the previous Galaxy Watch?

Yes, the standard Watch 8 has a new squarish case design, a departure from the purely circular look of some past models. It takes inspiration from the more rugged Watch Ultra’s aesthetic.

When will these be available in the Philippines?

While Samsung has just launched them globally, local availability and pricing for the Philippines are typically announced shortly after. Keep an eye on YugaTech for the official Philippine launch details!
