Well, that’s what the AirborneAccess website says — that Eastwood City in Libis is the first and only WiFi City in the country. That means the entire area is covered with their wireless signal although that remains to be proven.
In any case, this is good news to all nearby residents who has Airborne Access or people with Smart Bro’s WiFly account.
The other question is, will the wifi signal be able to reach their units? That I’m planning to find out. Let’s see how far and wide this wifi coverage really is. Anybody living/working in Eastwood tried this?
I wonder if they’ll be able to do the same in Makati, where Globe’s beendusting them asi

Well, I think Shangri-la Mall was the first wide-scale Wi-Fi-ing done by Airborne Access. And about Eastwood, I think they’ve been doing this for months already. I once got a Wi-Fi signal inside the parking lot of the Citywalk. =)
Eastwood has a promo: they’re offering free AA Wi-Fi cards for every 1,000-peso accumulated receipts from Eastwood City tenants. See my blog entry about it: http://vaes9.codedgraphic.com/posts/eastwood_city_wifi_promo

Think this will reach my house?
hip2b2 says:
how can this be? Eastwood is not a city right? ;-)
Miguel says:
It’s much easier in Eastwood since the whole complex is the private property of Megaworld. I’m not sure if Ayala actually owns Legaspi/Salcedo village…

I want a freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee wifi access hahaha… well sa Canada they have 6 months of free WiFi access i think starting next or month nag umpisa na last year. after that babayaran na nila yun pero 6 months parin yun ha,!
sherwin says:
you may get a signal, but is your wifi card’s transmit power strong enough to get the signal through the nearest access point? well sana they deployed it like a mesh para madami. i hope they get competition though on eastwood hotzone though.

Weird. I’m in Starbucks Eastwood City right now, and I’m on Airborne Access, but I haven’t paid anything to get this access. Is there a free Wi-Fi promo that I’m not aware of?
seav says:
The Eastwood City Wi-Fi seems to be really free. No Airborne Access cards or post-paid plans required!
Unfortunately, I don’t think the whole of Eastwood is covered. An officemate of mine tried it and the signal is gone at the Home Center area. The Wi-Fi seems to only cover the retail area: Citywalk 1 and 2, Cybermall, IBM Plaza, Epixtar, and Citibank building. Not sure if the condos are covered.

if eastwood is a WiFi city, selected SM malls are now mall-wide WiFi capable. check SM North Edsa The Block and Cyberzone.
