It has been a great year on YugaTech and I saw steady growth in traffic, subscribers and advertisers on the blog for the whole of 2008. Here’s hoping I’d be able to do the same if not better effort this 2009.

LG Electronics just unveiled in South Korea the world’s first 3G-enabled wrist watch. Yup, that’s a phone embedded in a watch with 3G for video-calling (sort of a James Bond thing).
As the year 2008 is ending, I dug up into my Google Analytics to see which stories in tech made a lot of buzz here on YugaTech. We’re heavy on gadgets and gizmo’s so here are the top 20 gadgets and top 10 stories published here this 2008.
When Intel launched the Core i7 procs, I asked Country Manager Ricky Banaag why the new systems only supported DDR3 RAM which is still pretty expensive. He replied that these will eventually go down. Sony has been taking it’s time to get its own netbook out in the market and at the same time, criticizing other manufacturers for a mediocre product. Well, it looks like its own Sony Vaio Pocket netbook will be put to the test now that details have been leaked.
My very first camera was a Canon Ixus 30 I bought for Php21k over 5 years ago. Since then, I moved up to the dSLR (Canon EOS 40D) and have been a loyal Canon user. Sometimes though, I find dSLRs too bulky and heavy for casual use so I thought I’d go back to a pocket-sized point-and-shoot camera.

HP has released a strikingly similar netbook to the HP Mini 1000 in Europe — the Compaq Mini 700. Specs are the same with subtle changes in design which includes a large Compaq logo.
Got a couple of text messages and emails when I was out of the country about this short feature on the Entrepreneur Magazine. I didn’t know that interview I had a couple months ago would be published in the December issue so I grabbed a copy when I got home.
HP has not formally launched the new Mini Note 1000 but Villman & PC Corner has already listed the netbook on their site with a suggested retail price of Php21,950.

Ever had one of those moments when you wished you had more screen size on your primary laptop? Well, Lenovo is trying to fix that problem with the ThinkPad W700ds.
Just landed this morning at Seoul, South Korea and will be spending the rest of the day here before I head home. I’m off for some last minute gadget shopping and maybe I’d find something interesting.
All that discussion last month about the Ilumina got me thinking — TV is still the #1 appliance in the living room. But how much has it changed in the last decade?
