Microsoft is set to launch their new operating system, Windows 7, to the public this November 7, 2009 at the CyberZone of the SM North EDSA. However, local retailers have already started offering the OS to consumers.

Last week, Microsoft put out an ad about a lady who wanted to buy a 17″ laptop for under $1,000. Not finding a Mac for that price, she quipped “I’m just not cool enough to be a Mac person“. That line hit a major nerve among Mac fans for reasons I don’t really understand.

Microsoft is joining the pack led by Apple and Nokia by introducing its own mobile backup service in the clouds; and I think its about time WinMo users get such service too.
Microsoft has finally announced the SKUs of their upcoming OS, Windows 7. The line-up didn’t come as a surprise but it sure does tell us MS learned from their mistakes with Vista.
The last quarter numbers from Microsoft are out and it’s not looking very good. As such, Microsoft has announced it will lay off 5,000 workers in the next 18 months including the 1,800 it sent out the door earlier today.

Those who weren’t able to go and personally witness the inauguration of Obama are left with no choice but to watch it on TV. Those who don’t have TV still have online streaming from Hulu and uStream yet the one by CNN using PhotoSynth got most of my attention.
Here’s another reason why Windows 7 is looking to be a better OS — I installed it on a touchscreen netbook (Gigabyte M912) and worked like a charm.
I’ve had the beta version of Windows 7 installed on my Intel Core 2 Quad, a Compaq Presario, and an Atom-based netbook for about a week now and so far, Microsoft’s upcoming operating system gave a fairly good impression.
