The TechCrunch blog was launched in June of 2005 and in just 2 years, they’re the world’s #4 blog (Technorati Popular) and maybe the 2nd most influential (after Engadget).
But the news the other day was how much TC was raking in per month — $240,000 or just over Php10,000,000. Sweet.
Now that’s a lot of trailing zeros. With just 8 full-time employees, including a recently-hired CEO, that number breaks down to $30,000 per month per employee. The San Francisco Chronicle screamed the obvious — “Yes, some blogs are profitable – very profitable.”
That amount comes from the 125×125 pixel ads at the homepage – each one, $10,000 a pop per month. Add to that a $200 per job listing on their Jobs Board. That does not count other revenues TC get from their conferences and parties.
Wow, I thought you spend money to do parties, not earn from them (cool!).

Ooh la la. That’s a hell lot of money.
just another reason I won’t quit blogging. hehehe.
wow, mine is only half% of that amount.. hehehe
Good for TC.
@ leo
0.5 % of that amount is also big for ordinary blogger..
Hey leo, that’s still $1,200 a month you’re earning!
Mas maganda kasi yung quality ng articles ng TechCrunch compared to Engadget and Gizmodo. I usually go there for news and info.
well, since i already give you a hint of my earnings, last months its nearing $1,500. no further disclosures. hehehe
Wow. They should get a Pinoy writer. Duncan Riley is almost universally reviled there.
it’s all from adsense btw, no affilates or link ads, but since i permanently moved recently to my own paid domain, i guess i have to consider other forms of ads too.
Yup, you are right Abe O. I am a fan of Techcrunch and I know this man – M. Ar.. He is a lawyer and a millionaire. I am one of the reader on his blog since 2006 and I learned a lot on his strategy. It is so sad that I have no much time to spend on working on the net to do the same
. I am a full-time Developer. Hope the site I am developing (almost on production) will click some day *ha ha*
. Wish me luck!
Goed.

These conferences make a lot. I’ve been to about 4 this past year where the passes have been anywhere from $25 to $1,000. Honestly, you could find most of the info online.
That’s a big money!!
How did they do that! ;D
So who wants to collaborate making a killer blog or some call blogport (blog/portal)?
pwede magtanong,im about to lunch my own site, and i known about adsense rule that “you must not click your own ads” since they will list your ip address upon application. but what if you have a dynamic ip adrres on your internet connection at home?
please help, im lost.!
Tech Crunch is one of the blogs that has one of the most number of feed readers that I knew. This is truly wow!
