Raon’s Everun Note sports an AMD Turion 64

Listen to article

These days, when we talk about UMPCs and netbooks, all the chips we hear are either Intel Atom or VIA. AMD is nowhere to be seen nor heard of (they publicly admitted they’re not focusing on the netbook market) despite having the Turion 64 CPU on its shelf.

Well, Raon Digital is banking on the AMD Turion 64 X2 (dual core) to get its 7-inch Everun Note out the door this September. Prolly the first-ever AMD-based netbook to go out in the market.

everun

The Everun Note is a 7-inch (1024×600) UMPC and will run on a 1.2GHz dual core AMD Turion 64 x2, 1GB RAM, 12GB SSD or 60GB HDD, SD card slot, bluetooth and Wifi 802.11 b/g. It also has a 1.3MP webcam and a slot for an optional 3G SIM card.

The AMD Turion 64 X2 (intended to be positioned against the Intel Core Duo) might still be a power guzzler (around 31-35 watts TDP) so it’s only rated at 2.5 hours of battery life.

That’s so sweet! I love the fact that you can just plug a simcard in. Does it make phone calls like the Raon Everun?
