How much of your income comes from blogging?

Here’s an interesting new poll. How much of your income comes from your blogs or your blogging gigs?

During the Mindanao Bloggers Summit, we had a panel of bloggers answering questions from the crowd. One of the most controversial question was focused on how much we earn from our blogs. I knew from the start that my fellow panelist would remain silent so I tried to initiate and strike a deal with Mindanao Bob — he tells us how much he earns and we’ll all tell ours.

At the end, Bob gave us a range (in the multiples of his US salary before) and Jayvee shared his salary as Channel Editor at b5media.

Now that everyone from their pet dogs to their house maids has a blog and in some ways are monetizing them, the next interesting question goes like this — How much of your income comes from your blog?

The options are found in the sidebar in our official Polls widget. Choose from “less than 10%” to 100%. Even full time probloggers have varying income streams although I reckon most of you who will participate in this poll would have a day job or two.

Another question which I usually throw blogger friends who still go to their 8-5’s is: What amount do you need to earn from your blogs to quit your day job? Please share your answer to this one in the comments.

    To quit my day job? When my income from blogging/other online ventures reaches $900/mo. :)

    If i love my job, why quit? Even if i will earn more than my salary. It’s great interacting with your officemates/friends.

    I’m still at school, so earning to pay for school fees and other expenses is the primary reason for monetizing my blog.

    My target earning level is $200/mo right now, I’m half-way there. But with Google punishing my PR and shrinking the click area in their AdSense, it’s going to be an uphill battle once more.

    I support myself, my wife, plus one other employee, 100% from blogging and affiliate marketing sites. About 75% comes from affiliate marketing sites, and 25% comes from blogs. Blog revenue comes from AdSense, ValueClick, Adify, ReviewMe, and several affiliate marketing programs.

    to quit my day job (i mean night job, but it’s still an 8-5 job hehe), i probably should be earning $600-$700/mo online.. at least.. especially with the dropping dollar rates. But I still enjoy my reg job, why quit when you can do both at the same time right? It’s nice interacting with people online, but it’s even nicer when you actually communicate with them in person. :)

    I work full time on the internet. About 20% or an average of $500/month is what I earn from blogging. The rest of my income is from my other internet ventures; directories, affiliates, multimedia and graphics outsourcing services. I have one employee for my multimedia graphics and one writer for one my blog while my wife takes care of our video multimedia outsourcing services. I do blog too but most of the time I am busy maintaining my other non-blog site.

    I quit my job, a lucrative government position, nine months ago and I have never looked back since.

    $2,000 is not bad number to get out from the cubicle. :)

    @jomark
    What makes a government position lucrative? I could only think of one thing….

    I was with the government 3 years ago ( I never find it lucrative) and resigned cause I can earn my year’s salary in a month doing freelance job online.
