Was full Paypal support a lot of help?

Months before Paypal legitimately opened its doors in the Philippines, there was much discussion on how the service could help a lot of Filipinos locally and abroad. It wasn’t the de facto money remittance of choice (even until now) for OFWs but it may have paved the way for more online transactions for Filipinos.

So, let me bring the question up again. Has Paypal actually made a significant change in the way you transact online? Did it allow people who did not use (or do not have access to) credit cards able to purchase online? Did it increase the volume of transactions for people who rely on the internet as their source of revenue? Has it help open up more opportunities for you?

About about some reduced headcahes? Or maybe a faster turn-around in receiving funds from outside the country? Did you leave old services behind in favor of Paypal (e.g. Xoom, WU, etc)?

Our poll for this week revolves around the significance that Paypal has brought us. The poll question is: How much transaction (receiving only) have you made since Paypal opened up in the Philippines?

As usual, the choices can be found in our poll section at the sidebar. You may choose the from closest amount you made. Please limit your answers to the total amount you’ve received via Paypal since it opened last October 2007.

what a timing question - i was thinking about this as well. honestly, it did not. my online transactions involve audible.com and threadless.com — and both sites dont accept paypal.

    TLA transactions are quicker though.

There wasn’t really any big changes in my Paypal activity, except that I am now receiving it in my Philippine Paypal account (whereas money was coming in through my Aussie Paypal account before). Though I now have the option to withdraw the money from my Paypal account, I still opt to keep it there and use it to pay for my online purchases.

I am using Paypal since 2001 (In U.S.) as a Premiere Business. Have a Paypal credit/debit card and planning to use in my vacation to Pinas’ this year. I’m transferring money using my Paypal to other users back in the Philippines and have no problem so far. So I can say, Paypal help my business. Haven’t try Xoom or WU yet.
