The “Mojave Experiment”

Listen to article

There’s been so much bad press around Windows Vista that even those who haven’t used it already think it sucks. So Microsoft did a secret project called the “Mojave Experiment.

In the experiment, Microsoft invited invited hundreds of people who have not tried Windows Vista and asked them what they think about the operating system. They then asked them to rate Vista from zero to 10.

The second stage introduces them to Microsoft’s next operating system — the Windows Mojave. They then asked these people to use it and what they think of it. Again, they were asked to rate the Mojave OS.

What they found was interesting. Check out the Mojave Experiment.

Never tried Vista but I had a flatmate once that almost cried when he sold his XP laptop to have it replaced with a Vista laptop.

With Vista, Microsoft needed to work against the general perception that Vista is aweful and problematic.

I’m sure they did a survey to determine how many people are staying away from vista because they heard bad things about it vs people who have actually tried the OS.

I’m also quite sure that the numbers from that survey show that they’re losing potential customers because of bad perception rather than from actual use of the product

I think what they did in this experiment is nothing short of ingenious. Ordinary people who have stayed away from vista because of the bad things they have heard about it might think twice and start giving it another chance.

Now my question is, do they have a similar experiment for Philippine presidents ? God knows she needs it more than Windows Vista :-)

This is exactly why I think it’s stupid for haters to hate something they haven’t even tried first hand.

Common ‘haters’ that fit in the Mojave experiment are:

1. Vista haters (claims the OS sucks)
2. iPhone haters (claims the phone is over-hyped)
