OPPO F1 Review

Display and Multimedia

When it comes to display, OPPO went for a 5-inch display with a standard HD resolution of 294ppi. Although it’s not as pixel-packed as Full HD screens, the display quality is crisp, vibrant with punchy colors. The OPPO F1 is also filled with high-quality wallpapers that made it look like it’s sporting a higher resolution.

The loudspeakers, on the other hand, can produce sounds with decent quality. It’s audible but trebly with subtle bass. It’s good for hands-free voice calls as it can emphasize voice. For music, it will suffice, just don’t put it on a soft surface like a pillow, or bed to avoid it from being muffled.

Camera

The OPPO F1 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with Phase-Detect Autofocus paired with an LED flash. It’s capable of producing sharp photos with good detail and accurate colors. Coupled with the said PDAF, it is quick in locking on the subject so you can just point and shoot. When it comes to low-light, it’s not the brightest out there but can handle noise really well.

OPPO tags the F1 as a “Selfie Expert” and equipped it with an 8-megapixel front camera. Although the megapixel count isn’t that impressive compared to other selfie-centric smartphones, it does have f/2.0 aperture and a ¼-inch sensor size. That said, it can take some good selfies especially in bright conditions. In low-light, it doesn’t have a front-facing camera but uses a Screen Flash similar to Apple’s iPhone 6s.

It doesn’t stop there though as the OPPO F1 is equipped with in-camera features including Beautify, Ultra HD, HDR, Panorama, Slow Shutter, Filters, Audio Photo, and Double Exposure. Other features can be installed within the camera app like Double Exposure, Super Macro, Expert Mode, RAW, Timelapse, and Slow-mo video.

As for video recording, it can shoot videos at 1080p resolution at 30fps saved in MP4 format. Quality is good with sharp details, good colors, and dynamic range. Watch sample below.

OS, UI, and Apps

Running the software department is ColorOS 2.1 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. OPPO’s UI is one of the prettiest around due to its colorful theme and modern icons without looking toyish. Like most Android UIs, ColorOS 2.1 lets go of the app drawer and uses multiple homescreens for housing the apps.

Pre-installed apps are kept to the basic google goodies in addition to the WPS Office and OPPO’s O-Cloud and Security Center. Storage-wise, it has a capacity of 16GB, less the 5.59GB system files, you’re left with 10.41GB of usable space. On the bright side, it supports microSD cards up to 128GB and USB OTG.

The wannabe socialites who prefer a shiny metal phone in gold or pink.

It costs less than one third of an iPhone 6s while looking practically the same from the rear, minus the OPPO branding.

Para sakin reasonable sia: metal body instead na cheap plastic, s616 na mas bago, 3 gb ram gorilla glass 4, etc. It’s not about being coppy card but we know that metal body is much sturdy than cheap plastic.
