Is ad revenue the price of free speech?

Here’s a really funny story about a blogger who got a few more than the usual series of unfortunate incidents with her Google AdSense cheque.

Imagine going to the bank to have your AdSense cheque encashed and the teller saying Google is out of funds? That would be the day. Read on and see how Mobile Jones got a bad check from Google.

On a related note, she mentions other bloggers have emailed her and telling her why they can’t are afraid to blog about it:

Several bloggers have expressed concern to me privately that they fear blogging about or commenting on this topic would put their participation in the Adsense program in jeopardy. Is ad revenue the price of free speech? Now, that’s scary. This concern is fueled by the numerous reports from bloggers that their Adsense participation has been terminated by Google with little to zero explanation.

Makes sense, actually. Why would one want to bite the hands the feed them?

thanks guys sorry dami ko tanong.

last na, so bale pag nareceive ko yung cheque with peso currency kahit saan bangko pwede ko ipa-encash?

Just select Phil. peso as the currency and the cheque should clear normally. No sense asking for a dollar cheque because you’ll have to wait 30-40 days to clear it. Of course you can ask for a dollar cheque if only to show off to your friends that you’re a “dollar earner”. ;-)

chris, you can encash adsense on any bank, basta may account ka duon at pwede na magdeposit ng checke, you can also opt your adsense account for you to accept the check in pesos para 3 days lang ang clearing, pwede rin in dollars pero atleast 30 business days bago maencash.

so where do you encash them?

    just any bank?

I think you earn more from adsense if your traffic is a little on the naive side. They have to click the ads, don’t they? Blogs for savvy surfers like yugatech probably doesn’t earn that much, not enough to get the BIR sniffing around yuga’s backyard.

Yes! there are lots of pinoy that benifit from Google Adsense and i’m one of them and of course Mr. Abe.

Google Adsense is the best way to monetize your blog/site.

You can encash the check that Google issued just like a regular issued check. If you have a bank account, just deposit the check to your account and just wait for 3 working days (defends on banks) and your adsense earning will be in your account.

As in any endeavor, it all depends on how willing a person is to sell his/her soul for a bit of gold.
