Google shuts down messaging app Allo

Listen to article

Google has just announced that it’s saying goodbye to its smart messaging app Allo.

Google already revealed its plans of shutting down the app since December 2018. An official notice had been put up on Allo’s official website, detailing the company’s plans. In the statement, Google mentioned that it would stop supporting Allo and put their focus into Messages, a messaging app for Android phones. Along with that, Google will also continue to improve on its other communication apps, namely Duo, a video calling app, Hangouts Chat, and Hangouts Meet.

Allo officially closes down on March 12, 2019. Users may export their chats from the app until then.
