Google has introduced Disco, a lightweight, experimental browser from Google Labs designed to test new AI ideas for web discovery and research.

The browser’s main feature, GenTabs, uses a person’s open tabs and chat history to understand what they are working on, then generates mini web apps to help complete tasks like trip planning, studying, or meal planning, without needing to code.
Disco is rolling out in a limited early-access program, starting on macOS via a waitlist, with Google warning that the experience is still in an early stage and may not work perfectly. Google says Disco is not meant to replace Chrome, but to prototype browsing concepts without affecting Chrome’s larger user base.
Unlike some AI browsing tools that try to replace websites with chatbot answers, Disco keeps the open web central by including links back to the original sources used inside each generated GenTab. Google says ideas that perform well in Disco could eventually be integrated into larger Google products.
