ChatGPT Search now available to all users for free

Listen to article

OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search engine is now available to all users for free. This service was initially limited to paid subscribers, but is now accessible in all regions where ChatGPT works.

The service works similarly to Google’s search engine, offering a traditional experience. In other words, results will show images, ratings, etc.

The difference here is that users may also ask questions casually, similar to a conversation. From here, ChatGPT will tend to queries as usual and use the web’s database to get back to you.

Plus, its search feature includes partnerships with news outlets and data providers. This makes for updated information and new visual designs for categories like news, maps, sports, stocks, and weather.

OpenAI says that they’re planning on improving the search experience further in areas like shopping and travel. To achieve this, they’re leveraging their OpenAI o1 model to conduct deeper research.
