OpenAI has announced that Deep Research in ChatGPT is now powered by GPT-5.2.

With Deep Research now powered by GPT-5.2, it brings expanded controls and richer outputs to the in-chat research tool.
First introduced last year, Deep research is designed to handle complex, multi-step internet research directly within ChatGPT.
With the GPT-5.2 upgrade, users gain greater control over how research is conducted and presented. Users can connect supported apps, search specific websites, limit research to selected domains or time ranges, apply filters, comparison criteria and track progress in real time.
Active research sessions can also be interrupted to add follow-up questions or new sources.
On the output side, Deep research can now generate structured reports, tables, charts, and visual data summaries.
Each report includes key findings, methodology explanations, commentary, and source citations.
The GPT-5.2-powered Deep Research update is rolling out starting today.
