Windows 11 version 24H2 is coming soon – not Windows 12

Sorry Microsoft fans, it seems the next Windows 12 operating system isn’t coming anytime soon. Instead, Microsoft has confirmed that there will be a new major feature update scheduled to arrive this 2024 called Windows 11 24H2, shutting down the rumors of a possible Windows 12 release this year.

Microsoft says Windows 11 24H2 will arrive sometime in the latter half of 2024, as the name of the update suggests.

A few notable features are coming with the Windows 11 24H2 as announced in by Microsoft including support for sudo, which will make it easier to run commands as an administrator. Microsoft Copilot for Windows will also feature some changes that will help enhance and accelerate work and improve user experience. Specifically, users can now drag and drop images onto the Copilot icon and the app will open.

In addition, expect there to be more support from AI as well as new features that users can take advantage of once the update is officially released. Specific details about the features have yet to be released, but for those of you interested in what to expect, you can check out the Microsoft blog 38 for more information.

So for those of you who are waiting for Windows 12, you might have to wait a bit longer. But with Windows officially planning to end support for Windows 10 in 2025, it might not be too long now before Windows 12 debuts.
