Listen to article

Spotify has rolled out Page Match, a smart new feature that syncs your audiobook progress with physical books and e-books. Page Match, which appeared first in a report last month and has now become operational to help users switch between audio and text content more simply.

With Page Match, users can use their phone camera to scan a page from either a physical book or an e-book. The system enables users to resume their listening at the exact moment they stopped by linking the page to the corresponding section in the audiobook. Going the other way works too, users can scan a page to receive guidance from Spotify about the book section that corresponds with their previous listening experience.

The feature will be available on iOS and Android for most English-language audiobooks by the end of the month. Spotify also announced that users in the US and UK can now buy physical books through the app via a partnership with Bookshop.org, which supports independent bookstores.
