Android Nougat still lags behind Marshmallow, Lollipop share

Listen to article

We all know Android updates come really slow to devices and to show how Nougat, the latest Android flavor, is taking its time, we take a look at the newest Android Dashboard stats.

As of May 2017, Android Lollipop (version 5.0, 5.1) still enjoys the largest cut with a 32% total share. Not far behind is Marshmallow (version 6.0) at 31.2%. Sadly, though, Nougat (version 7.0, 7.1) is just at 7.1%. Even older Android versions have a larger share: KitKat at 18.8%, Jelly Bean at 9.1%.

While the share of Nougat is low compared to other previous versions, it’s gradually increasing from April’s 4.9% share.

With Android O already in the works, we’re a bit skeptical how Nougat will be able to catch up since it’s already turning one year old in the coming months.

Have you read the preview of Android O, they’re a lot of interesting features like minimalistic design of quick settings, notif badges, adaptive icons and more. I think Android is getting better and smarter.

But not all phone will get the these features. The biggest issue is the “Fragmentation” . not all android phones are updatable due to the fact that some are run in custom roms.
