Samsung has emerged the leading smartphone brand globally during the second quarter of 2024, according to latest data from Canalys.

The South Korean tech giant owned 18% of the global smartphone market with the Galaxy S24 Series being a key driver. Adding to that is the company’s focus on generative AI and foldable technology, that set Samsung apart from the competition.

Apple closely trails in second with a 16% market share. While the Cupertino-giant hasn’t unveiled any new hardware yet, anticipation is high for its upcoming WWDC announcements.

Xiaomi rounds up the top three, growing rapidly with a 15% market share and a 27% annual increase. vivo and Transsion both hold a 9% market share, placing them in the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
