We covered a lot of tech last week during CES 2020. Companies showcased their latest and greatest, showing the world how far they can push the limits of innovation. There were tons of new laptops, computers, TVs, refrigerators, and even robotic balls! Among all the products unveiled, these are the ones that we’re most excited about.
Alienware Concept UFO
First on our list is Alienware’s Concept UFO. Imagine a portable, handheld, and wireless gaming PC running on Windows 10 with the power to run AAA games. That’s exactly what Alienware’s Concept UFO is. Gamers can choose between playing with the Concept UFO as a single device, or prop the screen up and detach the controllers, or plug in an external display along with your keyboard and mouse. Unfortunately, Alienware did stress that this is just a concept and will not be for sale in a long time.
AMD 4000-series APUs
What’s exciting about AMD’s latest mobile processors is that they managed to utilize high core counts with relatively high operating speeds with low heat output and power consumption. AMD has managed to release what are essentially desktop processors for laptops, and we’re excited to see how well these will perform.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14
One of the first laptops to use AMD’s 4000-series APUs are the Zephyrus G14 and G15. What’s even more exciting is that AMD has given ASUS 6 months of exclusivity with their more efficient Ryzen 7 4800 HS. AMD claims that the Ryzen 7 4800HS, which has a cTDP of 35W, will perform nearly the same as the standard 45W Ryzen 7 4800H. ASUS has paired the processor with an NVIDIA RTX 2600, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 1TB SSD for storage. It also features ASUS’ AniMe Matrix Display, which allows users to customize the lid with over a thousand mini LEDs.
MSI GS66 Stealth
MSI has hit a lot of good points with its latest GE66 and GS66 laptops. It comes with a whopping 300Hz display, up to an Intel Core i9 processor, with a new triple fan set up with 0.1mm fan blades all packed in a relatively thin frame. While it may not sound as exciting as a handheld gaming PC, MSI is moving forward in the right direction without compromising any aspect of their new product. Hopefully, we get to test it out soon so we can get to push it to its limit.
Lenovo Ducati 5
Limited edition products are always exciting. Exclusivity aside, manufacturers make bold moves when a product is limited edition. The Ducati 5 stood out in the crowd of laptop releases with its racing stripes, custom exhaust grills, and elegant carrying sleeve. Unfortunately, Lenovo decided not to deck out the Ducati 5. The 14-inch display only covers 45% of the NTSC gamut, the processor used was only an Intel i5, with no dedicated GPU and only 8GB of RAM. However, with a price tag of EUR 899, it’s not a bad machine to get (on paper), if you could get your hands on one.
Lenovo X1 Fold
2019 gave us foldable phones, and now, we’re getting foldable laptops this 2020. Codesigned by LG, the Lenovo X1 Fold is the first laptop with a foldable OLED display. It has (optional) 5G connectivity, pen support, powered by an Intel Core Processor. Users may orient the screen any way they want: either flat, in landscape like a book, or portrait using the kickstand.
ASUS ROG Swift 360
ASUS, with its partnership with NVIDIA, has designed the world’s first 360Hz, G-Sync enabled display. Designed for fast-paced shooters such as CS: GO, Overwatch, and Rainbox Six Siege, the ROG Swift 360’s refresh rate is unmatched. The 24.5-inch display sits on top of an ergonomic stand that offers full tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustment to suit each user’s preference.
Samsung MicroLED 8K Modular display
Samsung has pushed the limit of displays with its latest MicroLED modular display. It features Samsung’s deep learning upscaling technology, as well as the ability to connect two or more of them to suit the user’s space. You can now turn your entire wall into a single, seamless, large display.
Samsung Ballie
Lastly, Samsung has unveiled its own “life companion” robot, the Ballie. It functions as a smart home device that can help you control your other smart devices. Based on Samsung’s promotional video, it can function as a security cam, can activate robot vacuums, control other IoT devices, and pet-friendly, too.
